To mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maria Tecla Artemisia Montessori, a commemorative coin is dedicated to her. Coin issued on 9/06/2020.

The obverse depicts the portrait of Maria Montessori, an Italian educator, neuropsychiatrist, physician, philosopher and pedagogue. She invented the Montessori Method of the same name, which is known and used throughout the world. The portrait is set in a geometric representation composed of didactic elements of her educational method, such as the cube of a thousand. Her name MARIA MONTESSORI is engraved below and to the side.

In the top centre is the date of its birth, 1870, and below it the year of issue, 2020. To the right is the monogram of the Italian Republic, RI, and below the cube of a thousand is the signature of the author Luciana de Simoni. Around the central part of the coin, on the nickel outer ring, are the twelve stars of the European Union in a circle.

On the reverse side the usual common face with the value of the coin.

2 Euro Italy 2021 – Roma Capitale

In 2021, the commemorative coin for the 150th anniversary of Rome as capital city is issued. Issued on 25/01/2021.

The obverse of the 2 euro coin depicts a representation of the Goddess Rome, a sculpture by Angelo Zanelli displayed in the centre of the Altare della Patria. Under the initials of the author Uliana Pernazza, on the left the initials of the Italian Republic RI with the R of the Roman Mint underneath, and on the top right the inscription ROMA CAPITALE-1871-2021-.

Around it the circle of Europe consisting of the 12 five-pointed stars.

The reverse side is, as usual, the same as the 2-euro coins with their “value side”.

One of Italy’s most heartfelt commemorations is this one, dedicated to the Health Service and its/our Health Workers for their handling of the Pandemic caused by Covid19. To them the THANK YOU from Italy. Issue 03/2021

On the obverse side, in the foreground, two medical workers in scrubs with the characteristic mask and identifying instruments such as a stethoscope and a folder, symbolising analysis, statistics and research. On the left the cross as an international symbol of rescue, below the signature of Claudia Momoni, author, and the year of issue 2021.

To the right is the R of the Rome Mint, in the centre is the monogram of the Italian Republic, RI, and at the top centre is a THANK YOU followed by a heart and dedicated to all Health Workers. Around the nickel side of the coin are the twelve five-pointed stars, symbol of Europe.
