We now come to the last coin in this wonderful collection. Specifically, the last one is the 2 Euro commemorative coin of San Marino minted in 2019 in honour of the 550th anniversary of the death of Filippo Lippi, a famous Italian painter.

The obverse depicts a detail of the Madonna and Child (Madonna col Bambino) with Two Angels from the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. The inscriptions SAN MARINO and FILIPPO LIPPI can be seen in an arc at the top, while the date 2019 and the initials of the artist are at the bottom.

Finally, on the left, we note the date 1469 and the mint symbol R.

Again on the outer edge are the classic 12 five-pointed stars and on the reverse the classic face of all 2-euro coins.

2020 sees the birth of the Commemorative dedicated to one of the most famous painters of the Renaissance: Raphael Sanzio on the 500th anniversary of his death. Issued on 5/03/2020. Issued exclusively in Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof versions.

The obverse depicts one of Raphael’s earliest paintings, namely the detail of the ‘Madonna di casa Santi’. This painting is in the Raphael Academy in Urbino, originally the artist’s home.

Under the representation of the Virgin Mary is engraved the inscription RAFFAELLO, on the upper right the dates 1520/2020 on two lines and on the left the symbol R of the issuing Mint. The inscription SAN MARINO is on the right-hand edge of the central roundel, followed by the signature of the author Annalisa Masini (A.M).

The outer ring features the 12 stars, the symbol of Europe.

Also in 2020 a Commemorative coin dedicated to Gianbattista Tiepolo and to the 250th anniversary of his death will be issued for the Republic of San Marino. Commemorative issued on 27/08/2020 only in the Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof version.

On the obverse is a detail of the Angel from the painting Agar and Ishmael in the Desert, painted by Tiepolo in 1732 and now in the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice. At the top is the inscription TIEPOLO, at the bottom SAN MARINO. On the right of the consoling angel are engraved the dates 1770 and 2020 on two lines, below the angel on the left the initials of the author Claudia Momoni (C.M.).

The outer part of the coin features the 12 five-pointed stars of the European Union.

In 2021, to mark the 450th anniversary of Caravaggio’s birth, a commemorative is issued in his honour. Issued on 1/03/2021.

The obverse depicts one of his famous oil paintings of 1954/55, the Penitent Magdalene (Maddalena Penitente). At the top is engraved in a semicircle the inscription SAN MARINO ● CARAVAGGIO, below on the left the dates 1571 – 2021. To the right there is the Rome mint mark R and to the left the signature of the artist Silvia Pratesi SP.

In the circle around it the 12 stars symbolising the European countries are distributed.

The reverse side depicts the Common Face, with the value of the 2 euro.

The coin 2 Euro San Marino 2021 Dürer is the second commemorative coin of the Republic of San Marino in 2021 and is dedicated to the 550th anniversary of the birth of Albrecht Dürer. Issued 27/08/2021.

In the centre, on the obverse side, there is a depiction of a detail of the painting made by Dürer in Nuremberg in 1526, ‘The Virgin of the Pear’, with Dürer’s monogram AD at the top and the signature of the author Valerio de Seta V d S at the bottom.

Under the Virgin and Child are the dates 1471 – 2021, on the left the inscription SAN MARINO with the mint mark R, and on the right DÜRER. Around it are the twelve stars of the European Union.

On the reverse is the common face of the coin and the value of the 2€.
